My last entry was so embarrassing. I over exaggerated about the difficulty of my Spanish summer assignment, and I doubt anyone wants to hear the audio clip we have to listen to. I decided not to do that audio clip, anyway. I picked the easier one about the health benefits of peaches. :D
Summer Homework Checklist:
- AP Spanish:
Read story, answer questions, definitions. Audio clip and paragraph.Optional grammar. - AP English 3:
Read The Art of Fiction (almost done!)and Cold Mountain. Write essay.Sign honesty statement. - AP U.S. History II: Read Chapters 17 and 18 of the detestable Brinkley, read DBQ packet, write essay.
- Sci. Research 2H: Look for/contact mentors. (I’ve done this, but maybe I’ll try contacting more at the end of the summer if I have time?? Idk.)
Read article #1. Read article #2. Read article #3. Read article #4.Read article #5. Research/write up two techniques for topic. Redefine topic, since no one in that field seems to want to be my mentor. Compile list of five possible mentors.
Other things:
Go shopping.Freshmen orientation. Sign up for GSA?- Wash backpack.
- Buy wide tooth comb (for my thick hair).
- Improve somewhat at driving. (I still suck.)
- Study for Spanish SAT II with listening!
- Visit animal shelter! (I volunteer there.)
- Sell plastic clarinet and algebra textbook.
- Clean room.
- Learn how to use liquid eyeliner. (doubt I’ll have time…)
- Study for PSAT!!!
- Go running for 20 min. every day!
I think that’s it. I have a feeling I’m not going to do half of these extra things; I’ll probably sell the clarinet and textbook after school starts…
Last year I had more summer homework though. And my summer was so much busier. I really regret taking that four-hour Algebra 2 class (that’s why I have a textbook I need to sell), as well as skipping into Spanish 4H. Yes, I studied the Spanish 3 textbook so I could skip into Spanish 4. Why, oh why, couldn’t I have just stayed in Spanish 3? D: It would’ve been so much easier. Ugh. Then I also had band camp for a week, during which I was too exhausted and busy to do any homework. I remember working on my homework all day the last few days before school started, and I even pulled an all-nighter. -_- I was so burnt out by the time school started; it was absolutely horrible and I never want to do that again. Anyway, last summer I had homework in every single subject, except band, of course (though I had band camp). And I volunteered at the animal shelter, as I did this year.
So anyway. I need to get into shape for winter track. I try to run at night, when it’s cooler, but I’m so full after eating dinner that I have to wait…then today I forgot and had dessert…so I probably won’t get to run today. Damnit. I’ve also been trying to do this workout from the November 2009 issue of Seventeen Magazine…it says to do it every other day, and you’ll get toned in three weeks. It’s probably not going to make so much of a difference, but my arms at least feel like they’re getting stronger!
Oh yeah…so last night, there was a mouse in our house. It ran from the kitchen into the basement when I first saw it. I went down to the basement to look for it but couldn’t find it anywhere. I even tried putting out a piece of cheese to lure it out, but then my dad got mad at me for trying to feed it. Then today, my mom saw the mouse in the kitchen go under the stove, and she thinks it left the house? I hope so. ^^ So yeah, that was probably the most exciting thing that happened this week. A lot of my friends are in band camp this week, so they can’t volunteer at the animal shelter either. I really have to do my summer homework.
Sorry for the uber-long entry!! If you actually read the whole thing…wow.
